Leading disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz has recognised the Masonic Charitable Foundation as one of its top supporters.

The charity, which transforms the lives of disabled children by providing them with the equipment, support and skills they need to reach their full potential, is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.  To mark the occasion, Whizz-Kidz has presented awards to 25 people or organisations that have had a significant impact on its work.

Ruth Owen OBE, Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, presented the Outstanding Supporter award to our President, Richard Hone QC, in recognition of the funding that has provided by the Foundation through its predecessor charities.

Presenting the award, Ruth Owen said: “This award recognises the wonderful support we’ve received from Freemasons over a long period of time.  Your support truly has changed the lives of thousands of young wheelchair users, as well as enabling Whizz-Kidz to pilot new and exciting projects.”

Accepting the award, Richard Hone said: “Supporting children, particularly those who are disabled, is a cause that is close to the hearts of many Freemasons.  It is a privilege for us to support the important work of charities such as Whizz-Kidz.”

In previous years, the Foundation’s predecessor charities have awarded over £130,000 to Whizz-Kidz to support the work of Mobility Therapists and work placement programmes in the north of England.
