Freemasons from the Province of Norfolk have exceeded their target to fundraise £1.5 million for the Norfolk 2016 Festival Appeal by over £500,000.

Donations from the Norfolk 2016 Festival Appeal, in aid of the Freemasons’ Grand Charity, came to a staggering £2,051,686.44. The incredible total was announced at a Festival Finale dinner, held at St Andrew’s Hall in Norwich, on Thursday 26th May.

Over 500 people attended the sell-out event which concluded with musical entertainment from Ian Larkin and Invidia Voices, a rock and soul choir.

The funds will be used by the Masonic Charitable Foundation to fund financial grants to Freemasons and their families, other registered charities, vital services and disaster relief appeals.

The Freemasons’ Grand Charity consolidated with three other central Masonic Charities to become the Masonic Charitable Foundation in April 2016.

Speaking about the donation, our Chief Executive David Innes, said:

I’d like to express a very big thank you to all those from the Province of Norfolk who contributed to raising this fantastic Festival total.

We are continually inspired by the dedication and generosity of Freemasons and their families who answer the call to donate in support of others less fortunate than themselves.

This support helps us to make a great difference to thousands of lives and hundreds of communities around the British Isles and overseas.

The Province of Norfolk has produced a five minute video for supporters of the Festival Appeal to show how the passion and enthusiasm of its members contributed to the success of the 2016 Appeal.
