Families of military veterans undergoing treatment at Birmingham hospital will get accommodation and support

The families and loved ones of military personnel and veterans undergoing treatment at Centre for Defence Medicine at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, will be able to access vital accommodation and other support as they visit patients, thanks to a grant to the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity.

The £50,000 donation will support Fisher House at the hospital, which offers veterans’ loved ones comfort and stability during some of the most challenging times, making a profound difference to those it serves.

This latest donation reflects both the inspirational impact of Fisher House and Warwickshire Freemasons’ ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant. It also forms part of the Province’s Tercentenary Appeal, as preparations continue for Warwickshire Freemasonry’s 300th anniversary in 2028.

We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of Warwickshire Freemasons. This generous donation will help us continue to provide a ‘home away from home’ for military families at a time when they need it most, easing both the emotional and financial burden while their loved ones receive treatment.

James Elliot, Chief Executive of the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity

I’m very pleased we’ve been able to help Fisher House with their hugely important work supporting the families of those brave men and women who have given so much to their country. I’m proud to say that to date Warwickshire Freemasons have contributed £450,000 towards Fisher House, with the appeal set to continue for a further two years.
