Care, Support for Freemasons and families
Reginald had no savings or benefits, so had to pay for a professional carer out of his own pocket. Because of his deteriorating condition, he soon needed more frequent visits than he could afford.
“Dad was paying for care himself, and often wouldn’t put the heating on or would buy out of date food because he couldn’t afford it. His lodge Almoner visited and recommended the MCF, and together we put together an application for support.
The MCF gave us a grant for respite care, and the carers now come and help him get dressed and eat, which takes a lot of the pressure of me.
“I work full time, so having someone to take on some of the responsibility is a huge relief, and knowing that Dad isn’t struggling financially because of it is wonderful. I can’t thank the MCF enough.”
