Shortly after Geoff’s wife, Carol had a serious stroke which left her with reduced mobility, all three of their children died unexpectedly.
“Because of my Carol’s stroke, she’s constantly hooked up to oxygen and it’s hard for her to get out of the house. Our daughter used to take her out and about, but now she has died, it’s even more difficult. My wife gets so frustrated because she’s gone from being very social and active to being very limited and not being able to do a lot of the things she liked to do before.
The Almoner of my lodge is absolutely fantastic, and he got in touch with the Advice & Support Team (AST) directly on our behalf. Soon, Claire from the AST came to visit us at home, and her knowledge of government benefits and other charitable support was excellent.
“She helped us to claim the correct allowance, which eased financial pressures on us and allowed us to focus more on our health. We’re both so grateful to everyone at the MCF who helped us to do that.”
