Rachel’s story
Rachel is a single mum who lives in Norfolk with her two children, Daniel (14) and Grace (nine).
The children’s father suffered from mental health difficulties, and was not contributing to support them.
“I first got in touch with the MCF about three years ago. I was struggling to afford the essentials for Daniel and Grace – even things like buying school uniforms and paying for bus fares was a challenge.
My dad is a Freemason, but it was actually my sister who discovered the MCF online and suggested that I get in touch. I’m so glad she did! The application process was very straightforward, and the grants officer helping me, Suzanne, was so helpful.
“For the last three years, the MCF has helped us to afford the things the children need, which is a huge relief. To anyone in a similar situation, I’d say that you should definitely ask for help!”
