Paul has been a Freemason in the Province of Leicestershire and Rutland for 11 years and has consistently supported the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons’ charity) through personal contributions and serving as the Charity Officer of his lodge (Tudor House Lodge 8481). Recently, Paul decided to use the Free Will Writing Service offered by the MCF, in partnership with The GoodWill Partnership, to arrange his Will and Legacy.

According to the Money and Pensions Service, 56 percent of adults in the UK do not have a Will in place, this figure includes 53 percent of adults aged 50-64, who do not have a Will.  This exposes them to not having their wishes fulfilled. Paul sought to ensure that his wishes and legacy was secured.

As I started to get older, I began thinking about my Will and decided that leaving a legacy donation to the MCF would be a meaningful way to help. The MCF is a trustworthy charity, and I wanted my contribution to continue supporting their invaluable work.

Paul

Paul’s dedication to the MCF is deeply personal. He previously received critical support from the charity during very challenging times, including redundancy and divorce, which significantly impacted his emotional wellbeing. The network and connections he found within Freemasonry were instrumental in helping him overcome these difficulties.

Emerging from this challenging period gave Paul a renewed outlook and deeper empathy for others facing hardships. His experiences inspired him to actively champion the MCF’s mission within his lodge and across his Province.

“It was my turn to give back,” Paul stated.

Reflecting on the experience of arranging his Will through the MCF, Paul highlighted the simplicity and efficiency of the process, noting it was completed within a month.

I would highly recommend the Free Will Writing Service provided by the MCF and The GoodWill Partnership. The lawyers were very friendly, clearly explained everything, and made the process straightforward and stress-free. Their down-to-earth and non-judgmental approach put me completely at ease. Nobody likes to think about mortality, but it’s inevitable. Having a Will in place ensures your wishes are clearly documented and carried out by your Executor, significantly easing the burden on loved ones during an already difficult time. Taking this step means they can focus on remembering you and celebrating your life, rather than dealing with unnecessary stress and uncertainty.

Paul

As Paul has shared, leaving a gift in your Will is an incredible way to contribute to the ongoing work of the MCF and support individuals in need and the work of other charities. We are proud to say that since 2018, we have referred 1,089 individuals to The Goodwill Partnership, who successfully made their Wills. In the past year, 162 individuals have been referred and have now received their Wills through the service.
