Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides specialist care for people in Cambridgeshire who have a terminal illness. We help them with their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing and provide support for their family and friends. Our aim is to help them and their loved ones to live as fully as possible, in as little pain as possible, and to make the most of the time that remains. We support adults with illnesses such as Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s, Lung Disease, Heart Disease and Dementia.

Our full range of hospice care services are provided free of charge and include; a 24 hour inpatient unit providing pain relief and symptom control; a day therapy and outpatient unit providing therapeutic activities and clinics including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, aromatherapy; a community unit of hospice at home nurses providing hospice care in people’s own homes; a family support unit providing information, advice and support to family members and loved ones including pre and post bereavement counselling and an education unit that offers training for anyone working with those with a terminal illness to improve the care that local people receive.

Our aim through these services is to provide the very best “end of life care”.

Cam Sight is a visual impairment charity, embedded in the community and working with 1,500 blind and visually impaired people across Cambridgeshire. We bring together local communities and people with sight difficulties to inspire and support each other. Cam Sight is a life-long resource, currently supporting babies, older people and those of all ages in between. We enable people with sight loss to remain a valued part of their community and ensure they have the information, support and technology to remain independent.

Based in Cambridge and Chatteris in Fenland, we provide emotional support and counselling; monthly social groups in villages across Cambridgeshire with information and advice; visits at home by our community team and volunteers to provide help and company. Our two low vision centres display and demonstrate a wealth of equipment from magnifiers to talking clocks and give advice and training on specialist and mainstream technology. Cam Sight groups for pre-school and primary age children and teenagers provide fun, skills and opportunities for children and families to gain support and meet each other. Guided and led by blind and visually impaired people, we build our services to be relevant and responsive to the realities of living with loss of vision.

Maggie’s Wallace Centre is a charity that provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer, their family and friends, from diagnosis throughout living with the affects after cancer. Maggie’s has been providing high quality, evidence-based support for over five years in the local area.

We help people to achieve the best possible state of psychological and physical health during diagnosis, treatment and throughout their cancer journey. People across Cambridgeshire and beyond can come to Maggie’s at any stage of their cancer journey, for as long or as little as they like. We believe that the built and natural environments in which people are cared for have a direct impact on wellbeing and how a person responds to the challenge of cancer.

Our Centre is staffed by Cancer Support Specialists, Benefits Advisor, Nutritionist, therapists and Clinical Psychologist who can support people in whichever way best suit their needs. Maggie’s Wallace Centre is a place to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; a place where qualified experts provide emotional support; a place to meet other people or simply to sit quietly with a cup of tea.
