Senior Leadership

Chief Executive
Les Hutchinson

Les Hutchinson was appointed to the role of Chief Executive in 2020, having formerly served as the MCF’s Chief Operating Officer and as the Chief Executive of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys (RMTGB).  Les brings with him a wealth of knowledge of masonic charity having joined the RMTGB in 1988. During this time Les has held the positions of Management Trainee, Senior Case Administrator, Planning and Development Co-Ordinator and Secretary to the Council. He has been a Freemason for over 30 years and also serves as a Trustee of several smaller charities.


Group Finance Director
Charles Angus

Charles joined the MCF as Group Finance Director in November 2016 following a career working in similar positions in the commercial, public and third sectors. His key focus is towards developing and implementing financial strategies to support and enhance the charitable operations of the MCF and its operating subsidiaries, and to optimise the returns from their assets.


Group Human Resources Director
Louise Bateman

Louise joined the RMBI as HR Director in July 2013 having worked across a number of sectors and held a Trustee role for a cancer fighting charity.  She was instrumental in leading the TUPE process for the masonic  charities as they integrated to form the MCF.  From April 2016 Louise became the Group HR Director and continues to lead the HR function in supporting both charities.  Louise chairs the Staff Forum and also attends the Remuneration Committee.


Operations Director
John McCrohan

John joined one of the MCF’s legacy charities, the MSF, as Grants Director & Deputy CEO in 2011.  Upon the formation of MCF John became the Head of Strategy & Special Projects which evolved into Head of Strategy & Impact. In September 2020 he was promoted to Operations Director with oversight of our grant programmes, fundraising, impact & evaluation, strategy, health & safety, and other compliance matters.  Prior to joining the masonic charities John worked for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.


Chief Digital and Technology Officer
Suhail Alam

Suhail has been with the Masonic Charities for over 17 years, he was previously the Finance and Development Director of The Freemasons’ Grand Charity, leading both the Finance function and the Relief Chest Scheme. He has extensive experience in the private sector, holding management positions in financial and management information systems. He aims to take a “bifocal” approach: achieving the near-term imperative of getting things moving quickly, while setting in place the longer-term conditions of success to deliver the MCF Mission and Strategy.


Head of Fundraising
Paul Crockett

Paul joined the MCF in September 2017 as the Fundraising Support Officer and has subsequently been appointed as Fundraising Manager and then Head of Fundraising.  Paul has over 20 years’ experience in voluntary fundraising, mainly focussed on masonic giving, and he brings this experience to the role.  He leads on the development of fundraising strategy, which embraces both traditional methods and innovative technologies.  He works in partnership with Provinces to achieve Festival ambitions and ensures that all aspects of fundraising are compliant with regulation and the code of practice. He acts as an engaging and inspiring ambassador promoting the MCF throughout the Provinces.


Head of Masonic Support
Gareth Everett

Gareth, formerly Grants Director for one of the MCF’s legacy charities, the RMTGB, has been working in the Masonic charities since 2000. He leads the MCF’s Masonic Support teams to provide comprehensive and effective support to individuals and families in the Masonic community.


RMBI Care Co. Managing Director
Mark Lloyd

Mark joined RMBI Care Co. as Managing Director in October 2016.  Mark brings 30 years’ experience in the housing and social care sectors, before joining RMBI Care Co his last role was Managing Director of Avante Care and Support, a charity delivering home care and support, and residential care services across Kent and the South East.

He endeavours to maximise RMBI Care Co.’s future potential and to strengthen its position in the UK adult social care sector by focussing on care services of the highest quality.


Head of Charity Grants
Rebecca Lloyd

Rebecca joined the MCF recently in March 2022, bringing extensive experience from the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund where she was Head of Grant-Giving and Philanthropy. She has many years’ experience in the charity sector as a fundraiser and grant-maker.


Head of Communications
Harry Smith

Harry became the Head of Communications for the MCF in April 2016, having previously worked as the Communications Manager at the RMTGB since 2010.  Harry leads the communications team which is responsible for branding, marketing and public relations. Prior to joining the Masonic charities, Harry worked as a political consultant for a public affairs agency in Westminster, advising a range of clients on their communications with government.


Head of Property
Raluca Tsakiris

Raluca joined RMBI Care Co. as Estates Manager in April 2017, following a successful career in property in Central and Eastern Europe. Since April 2022, Raluca has been leading the MCF’s Property Department. Raluca’s principal mission is to secure financial resources from investment properties which can support the charity in fulfilling its long-term purposes.


Company Secretary
Brenda Nurse

Brenda joined the MCF as Company Secretary in March 2022 following the development and implementation of best practice governance initiatives and protocols for the Law Society and providing strategic insight for Ofcom and its affiliated partners. Her key focus is to proactively shape and sustain an accessible and adaptable governance infrastructure that protects the integrity and legacy of the MCF.
