Crossroads Care Surrey gives families a ‘Funtastic’ break
Crossroads Care Surrey has been awarded a grant of £75,000 to help more than 80 carers of children with disabilities and other complex health needs. This grant will fund the charity’s Funtastic Club.
Funtastic Club
The Funtastic Club provides a safe, fun environment for children and includes interactive floor spaces and a sensory room. This grant will allow children to attend the Saturday club regularly, giving their parents a five-hour break each time.
Supporting the mental and physical health of carers
These short breaks are crucial for the mental and physical health of carers; giving them time for themselves and other family members. Siblings are often young carers and look forward to the precious time with their parents that the club provides them.
There are 115,000 identified unpaid carers in Surrey, many of whom support a loved one 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
